O groove por trás do Jamiroquai Parte Final - Paul Turner

Não é segredo que o Acid Jazz (Movimento londrino criado no início dos anos 90) é uma fonte que vem abastecendo as influências de diversos instrumentistas pelo globo. Bandas como Incognito, Brand New Heavies, Galliano, Corduroy e principalmente Jamiroquai trouxeram uma nova visão sobre improvisação, groove e técnica, fazendo principalmente os baixistas "baterem cabeça" e perceber que o baixo não precisa estar atrás, escondido pra fazer um bom groove. Caras como Stuart Zender (Primeiro Baixista do Jamiroquai) tornaram-se referência e constantemente figuram em meio as listas de influências de diversos baixistas renomados nos dias de hoje. tendo em vista a grande importância destes, resolvemos falar um pouco sobre cada um destes baixistas que ocuparam a tão respeitada "gig" com o Jamiroquai.

- Paul Turner (2005 em diante)

Nascido em Sunderland, UK no dia 13 de março (Paul não revela o ano de seu nascimento), Paul Turner que trabalhou em hotéis com seus pais antes de se tornar um músico de tempo integral, começou a tocar aos 14 anos, na época morava em uma ilha entre Irlanda e Reino Unido chamada 'Isle of Man', lugar repleto de turistas que acabaram por influenciar o baixista e até mesmo apresentar aqueles que seriam suas grandes referências no futuro como Chic, level 42 e Paul Young.

Após a saída do então baixista da banda Nick Fyffe (confira no post 'o groove por trás do jamiroquai parte 2') em 2003, a banda não parou e gravou em seguida o disco Dynamite com vários baixistas, tais como Derrick McIntyre e Randy Hope-Taylor. Porém a banda procurava por um membro efetivo para realizar a turnê deste disco e continuar a história da banda, e assim promoveu uma audição com cerca de 20 músicos disputando o gig, no final restaram Paul e mais um. Turner não pôde comparecer na audição final por ter compromisso com outros artistas, mas mesmo assim foi chamado para integrar a banda. E deste então ocupada uma das vagas mais disputadas do mundo do contrabaixo e dos amantes do groove, soul, funk e acid jazz.

ah- I love Jamiroquai- I have seen them live twice- The time in Zurich was a huge venue and the friend that I was with ate too many muosmohrs and fainted during the show- I don't speak German and it was a hupla getting things sorted- I have always loved their lyrics and often feel like they speak to me'- I started loving them with Emergency on Planet Earth and feel most at home' with those tracks- but Travelling without moving was forsure on repeat forever. I love Cosmic Girl and how can anyone not feel like moving and dancing to virtual insanity- I have not heard their new album- thanks for the reminder.Ren
